The royal apartments

After the lovely man shown us to our room we became to unpack., the apartment was lovely! So clean and spacious and everything we needed included.  We soon settled in and unpacked.

I run a bath and overly cleaned my self.  Ii love to put products on like moisturiser and deodorant but tonight I'm restricted.

I'm thinking of eating a lot as I am to stop all food at midnight ready for the morning!

I don't feel nervous as it doesn't seem real, although just writing that down I did feel a bitterly sensation!

Well wish me luck world tomorrow my life changes (hopefully for the better) for good!

Eeeeeeek I hope I can sleep!

Although I will be doing plenty of that tomorrow......

1st impressions

We arrived at tesco, got a trolly and off we went inside!  Wow this is not what I was expecting! It was so different to what we were used to! Anyway we went about our business getting some food in that I could eat for after! All I could think of was yogurt and soup! What will I be able to eat after nose surgery? Surely my face will hurt?

Anyway we were at check out and no one spoke English so it was hard to ask for help when the self service machine went silly!  To be honest some of the staff were quite rude and went out of their way to ignore us! Again my nerves kicked in!

I called for the guy from the apartments to pick us up and we waited for him.

He arrived shortly and helped us with our shopping and showed us to our room! He was lovely and asked if we needed anything and gave us his number!

The day before surgery

So it's finally here

Morning was a rush, to say I've been preparing forever I was so surprised how rushed I was.  So arrived at the airport on time, bags checked in ok and off for a sneaking beverage to settle my nerves.

Before I knew it I was sat on the plane and ready for take off! This is it! I'm on my way to poland!

The flight was so quick!

I arrived to be greater by the taxi driver chris who was holding a sign up with my name in it! He didn't say much and if I'm honest I started to feel a little nervous.

The taxi journey took longer than I thought! I heard the taxi driver was funny and chatty but he didn't say a word to be this made me nervous.  I started looking for evidence that someone had be kidnapped lol.  Mind plays wonderful tricks on you when your in a strange place!

We arrive finally at the royal apartments.  I arranged for chris to pick me up in the morning ready for my surgery!

As I exited the taxi a kind man came and grabbed our bags.  There was a problem with the room he said.  Not to worry though it will be ready in 1 hour and he offered to take us anywhere we wanted.

So we decided to take a trip to tesco to get supplies!

Changing hotels at the last minute

So I have done nothing but research wroclaw and the hotels and have decided to swop hotels for one a little closer to noa clinic!

The royal apartments! For a few of reasons;

Closer to clinic

Good wifi

Closer to tesco

Closer to magnolia shopping centre (a must)

All apartments have a balcony

Beings though I'm going during the hot summer months I believe a balcony is a must!  Plus if I don't feel like going out much (I will probably need the rest) then I can't relax on the balcony in the sun!  I am so excited now! I have only days until my arrival in Poland!  I am hoping to go site seeing, I want to visit the museums and the zoo.  We will see how I feel!

I shall update you all soon :)

I'm all packed and just waiting for the day to hurry along :) xxx

Anxiety

Well 2 days ago I was absolutely fine!

I was happy looking forward to it - people were asking me if I was nervous, I just said no I'm just so excited! Oh how naive of me!

I am not fine I am panicking! My heart is doing over time and that horrid sinking feeling is making me feel like I'm doing rolly polys!  I'm starting the think about the short term now instead of the end result like before!  The pain! What if it goes wrong? What if I don't wake up?? Breathe tyga breathe!!

I'm panicking about not taking enough money, the flights, the hotels, the taxi drivers, the clinic - honestly you name it, I'm panicking about it!!  I'm not normally a worrier! I just do things and get on with it! I guess this is a life changing operation I'm about to have!  It will change the way I look forever!  Hopefully for the better !

All these years I've been wanting this so badly! Is it really happening? Is my dream actually coming true???? Overwhelming feeling of excitement has just tingled through my veins!!!

Update you soon - I'm off to check in my flights!!!

The nightmares start

Well I have not long left now - couple of weeks and il be there!

The vivid dreaming is stopping me from sleeping! I had a dream that Dr Adam was not listening to me and that we went to a cave on a mountain where my surgery was going to take place in a tent!!! This dream went on for a while and even carried on after my trip to the loo!!

Maybe my subconscious is thinking about it more than I anticipated ????!!!!!

Some Comments From the Facebook Page

Thought I'd add some comments from the Facebook page. There are so many so I selected recent ones, and for confidentiality reasons I cropped them.

People talk about their journeys

Some have been before and are returning! Not only do they meet other patients, they form bonds and friendships.

Some have concerns and others help by sharing their stories to put others minds at rest!

Others keep updating their progress long after their surgery.

People share photos and help others decide if it's right for them.

Alsorts of questions can be answered by previous patients or Adams team.

They talk about accommodation and flights to help each other find the best places to stay.  People even meet up and share as some patients travel alone!

It's not only you the clinic care about!

All in all great comments fantastic community spirit and all around long term support and encouragement!

Paying for Surgery

You can pay for your surgery at the clinic on the day of your arrival (usually you arrive at 8am if you arrived in Poland the day before like me, for your surgery.

You will go in and have your consultation and bloods taken and then after Adam (&/or Martha) is happy and more importantly you! Then you will pay!.

Great thing is you can do it by bank transfer! This means no chargers!

You can also pay in English pounds cash! Don't know about you but carrying that much money scares me a little bit so I'm opting for the bank transfer!.

There is no changing currency rates etc.

The Waiting Game and shopping list

It is now June and I am so excited I have 4 weeks left until I fly to poland for surgery!

It was February when I booked! And if I'm honest it hasn't took as long as I thought! It's not dragged that much, but I know these last few weeks are going to seem like forever!

I have mixed emotions, the usual concerns! I was more scared about surgery before I booked it! I made sure before I booked it that this is what I was happy doing! I was stalking the Facebook page for a year before I said "right that's it! I'm booking" and I'm so pleased I did! Well so far!

I have started a shopping list and maybe this will help some of you who are thinking about surgery too!

Well I'm going in the summer so it will be warm. Light clothing is needed!
I'm having my boobs done so im not going to be able to lift anything or use my arms that much, so I need loose clothing DEFINITLY NO SKINNY JEANS!

I have brought a sports bra from Asda cost me £8, I know the clinic give you one but I wanted 2 for hygiene reasons.

  • Sports bra
  • Loose easy to put on clothing and underwear (I won't need any other bras)
  • Sun block! (No sun on your scars or surgical area at all)
  • Arnica cream  (this is a herbal cream that reduces swelling redness and bruises)
  • Dermatix gel is at about £60 for 60mg but in Poland yet they have Blizny gel for £5 for 30mg massive saving. (This is a silocone gel used to reduce the scar prevent itching)
  • Boarding pass
  • Passport
  • Hotel information
  • Phone numbers of the taxi drivers picking you up, the clinic and the hotel.
  • iPad - with plenty of films /books /wifi - charger!
  • Currency - get beforehand
  • Mouthwash - dry mouth
  • Vaseline - for lips and nose as these become very dry
  • Toothbrush
  • Moisturiser
  • Cotton buds
  • Vitamin c & pineapple juice - helps with the swelling
  • Pain meds ( you can buy extra strength codiene over in poland and the clinic provide pain med)
  • Laxatives (pain med side affects)
  • U- shaped pillow
  • cough drops
  • Dry shampoo
  • Plenty of tissues
  • Soft snacks (yoghurt/ banana)
A lot of things can be brought in Poland and are much much cheaper than UK.  Some people might like to be prepared before they go so they don't have to worry when they are there.  Others are taking hand luggage only which means you will have to buy all essentials there as you won't be able to take them in hand luggage.

I'm so excited I can't think or talk about anything else!!

Can I Afford This Surgery?

Well ..... Hopefully.

Like I have said before I have been looking into this for over a year so I have been saving as I wanted it in the UK.  You hear so many horror stories about surgery abroad, but after my intense research and befriending of his patients, I have decided my life is in safe hands. Bonus for me as I'd nearly saved enough pennies to cover the cost of the nose and ears £2900 in Poland, so now it was time to look down other avenues to reach the goal of my boobs and tummy!

So I started looking into loans...... People say if you can't afford it then don't buy it! But I see it this way.  We only live once and we are certainly not getting younger! So what's the difference between buying now, pay later rather than pay now, buy later?  It seems silly to save and then do it! (With surgery anyway) Paying later is just the same but opposite way round! Except you have your new confident body to help! And while your paying off this amazing body your also healing! That person who is saving and that person who is borrowing will both have the money paid at the same time just one would have had their body like they wanted, for much longer! That's my thoughts anyway!

Well I have bad credit due to some phone bill I didn't pay when I was young and stupid so these mainstream loan companies won't touch me, no credit cards, no bank loans, I was starting to loose hope!  I decided to ask family members! I hate borrowing from them and as desperate as I thought I was I'm not sure they would see cosmetic surgery as a desperation!  At first my family said no! Gutted! But slowly came round to the idea and saw how much this meant to me! And loaned me a bit! So I had to find the rest still, but I wasn't too worried as at this point I'd paid my flights, Booked hotel (not paid for yet as I wanted to be able to cancel incase I got a cheaper deal)  and got £3000 stashed in a bank! (That I refused to have the card to so I didn't spend it)

No lie I started counting the pennies from the copper jar and looking around for things to sell!  Strangely this was working in my favour but not at the speed I wanted it too!  I went to the bank and asked for an extended overdraft! They granted it me! A thousand pound! I asked no questioned and left like I'd stolen it!

So in the kitty I had now got!

3000 saved + 1000 family fund + 1000 bank overdraft! - sorted!!

I can now afford to go in July and have my surgery!

Now to get the rest together while paying off that for 6 months time to go back and have my tummy done!....... We.ll see how this goes!

Is Cosmetic Surgery Addictive?

I am starting to think so!

Well as you know (if you have read my previous blogs) I am booked in to have a rhinoplasty (nose job) and a octoplasty (ear pinning) in July.  After reading stories about all sorts of surgeries going on I started to wonder if I could afford to have more of what I wanted!  Was this possible? Definitely not in the UK I would have to be a millionaire (and I assure you I am not) self employed struggling mum of 1!

After having a child - and I know a lot of you ladies out there feel my pain, I have deflated boobs and a baby belly! Well a adominoplasty (tummy tuck) over here in the UK is around £6000 and a breast augmentation (boob job) is around the same! Too pricey for me sorry! Pipe dreams......... So I thought!

Over in Dr Adams clinic a boob job ranges from £2390 - £2890 depending on the shape, look and feel you are going for.  A tummy tuck is £2100 and £2550 if you want lipo as well! Seriously cheap.  Not only cheap but many ladies have had this procedure and cannot thank him enough!  G.Ps over here are amazed at Adams work!

Also if you are not happy with the work, they do a revision for free! All you have to pay for is your flight over and accommodation.

SO....... I start to enquire about more surgery.....

My previous quote for surgery for my nose and ears was £2900

I asked for a quote for my boobs and tummy but as this is just too much strain on the body all at onceAdam and David advised against it.  That was heart breaking a little, but they did say if I was to stay out for 3 weeks they would consider as I would need extra after care.  I thought that was amazing but not only would that start to get expensive, I decided to not go ahead and have both done with my nose and ears.

So I asked just about my boobs and they said that was fine and quoted me £4990 for nose ears and boobs! I had a multiple surgery discount! How amazing of them!

I then proceeded to book for my tummy 6 months later (recommended time between surgeries) and was quoted £1,995 as a returning customer.  Over the moon to say the least!

Hmmmm this was adding up now...... Think I'm going to struggle! But I desperately want to be normal again!

I will find a way!

Nose £2,000
Ears. £900
Boobs £2,000
Tummy £1,995

Booking flights and hotel

I booked my surgery in February for July and soon after booked my flights with Ryan air.  They were so cheap I paid for my mum to come join me on my journey.  After I booked flights I started to look for hotels.  Now there are a lot to choose from and all very good in price, there are even apartments especially for the clinic, which are only £30 for each night and across the road.

It's easy to decide where to stay as everyone talks about their hotels etc on the Facebook page.  The most popular hotel is the puro, it seems very modern and hi tech, with sound proof rooms and comfy beds! Sounds like just what you need after surgery!

I opted for an apartment so I had a kitchen at ready incase I didn't feel up to going out and all facilities at hand ready!  The apartment I am staying at is called the leoapart and is near the market square! Il up date you on that when I'm there.

Now all I had to do was wait! This seemed like the hardest thing to do!  It's going to take forever! Can you remember when you was younger and waiting for Christmas just took forever? It's kind of like that! Stalking the Facebook page helped and researching the internet for stories on experiences with Dr Adam.  That is how I came up with the idea of this blog.

£218.06 flights + insurance + bags for 2 people (this can be much cheaper if you don't do bags and insurance, I found this out later and could not have my money back)

£215 for 6 days in a twin apartment with free wifi, washing machine, kitchenette, satellite TV etc.

The First Steps

This journey started around a year ago....

Although it has been on my mind a lot longer, I didn't actually think any of this was within my price range until I discovered Dr Adam!  Wow surgery so cheap? This has got to be to good to be true.  So I took the first step and contacted them through their website and spoke to a lovely gentleman named David.  I sent in pictures and withing a couple of days Dr Adam had reviewed them and I was accepted for surgery.

Dr Adam kalecinski

So I went ahead and booked it.  I have always had a problem with my ears, some say it's just silly, but they bother me.  I've always had to hide them, and to those who have ears that don't stick out, you won't understand the torture these horrid things can bring to your everyday lives!! In the UK it costs around £3/4000 !! Shocking but I would have paid it eventually.  Ok so here's the amazing part about Dr Adam and Wroclaw! The cost of ear surgery it is only £900. Wow all my dreams had come true!!

As well as my ears I have also a huge (no pun intended) problem with my nose! It's massive to say the least and I hate it! I'm not a weak person, and have never been bothered about name calling or bullying, but I would just rather go through life without it there. Just blend in like everybody else. I had my nose broken when I was younger which made my nose grow in an awful manor.  So here it is! Cost of UK surgery for my nose in UK £8000! Dr Adam quoted me £2000 - how amazing is that!  So my date was booked for both surgery to be done at the same time.

The best part about all this is the face book page.  Everyone on there is having the same feelings as you, and others are sharing their photos and experience, it's just amazing.  You can follow others as they take their life changing adventures and help others cope better with theirs!

Price of nose (rhinoplasty) £2000

Price of ears (octoplasy) £900
